City remembers former mayor James L. Brown

Frankfort’s former Mayor James L. Brown, who served on the City Council from 1964 through 1968 before being elected mayor and serving from 1968-1972, died February 7, at the age of 94. Brown lived in and served the Frankfort community in numerous ways. He was a graduate of Frankfort High School, an Army veteran, and a member of the Moose, VFW, and American Legion.

“Former Mayor Jim Brown took his civic responsibility to heart, and was truly dedicated to Frankfort,” said Mayor Judy Sheets, “We are grateful for his example of service and his commitment to this community.”

Jim’s family is encouraging friends to memorialize Jim in their own way. An opportunity for sharing and fellowship may be planned in the future. Memorial donations in honor of Jim may be made to the Moose Lodge #7, 2880 E. Wabash St., Frankfort, IN  46041 or The Frankfort VFW, 309 N. Main St., Frankfort, IN 46041.
