Today, Staff Sergeant Jamie D. Jarboe was recognized and honored in a ceremony naming the State Road 28 East bridge over Prairie Creek “Staff Sergeant Jamie Jarboe Memorial Bridge.”
Staff Sergeant Jarboe graduated from Frankfort High School in 2003 before joining the Indiana Army National Guard. He was shot in Afghanistan in April 2011 while on patrol in the Zhari district. Staff Sergeant Jarboe underwent more than 100 surgeries in the following ten months before passing away on March 21, 2012, at the age of 27.
In recognition of the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of SSG Jarboe, Mayor Sheets issued a proclamation recognizing today, November 7, 2020, as Staff Sergeant Jamie D. Jarboe Day in the City of Frankfort.
We pledge to remember the lasting legacy of SSG Jarboe and honor the ultimate price he paid in his unwavering commitment to our country.
