Frankfort Parks to Reopen Friday, May 22

**UPDATE**
We received clarification from the Governor’s office that playgrounds have been removed from Stage 3 of the Back on Track Indiana plan. As a result, we will not be able to open playgrounds tomorrow. We will update the public when a new date has been determined.
We will be reopening basketball courts, pickle ball courts, the skate park, and public restrooms tomorrow as planned. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

Frankfort, IN – Frankfort Parks Department will safely reopen park facilities tomorrow, May 22, 2020. In light of Governor Holcomb’s announcement of moving Indiana to Stage 3 two days early, the Parks Department will begin reopening playgrounds, sport courts, and public restrooms Friday afternoon.

Parks Department Superintendent Bart Kraning confirmed that measures will be taken to clean playground equipment prior to reopening, but says, “We ask the community for your patience while our department reaches all of the parks and park amenities. There will be signs posted to remind the community that equipment should be used ‘at your own risk’. Also, remember that once the playground equipment has been cleaned and opened to the public, we will rely on parents and guardians to play an active role in cleaning equipment before use.”

Residents are reminded to observe the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines when visiting any park. Social distancing of at least 6 feet from anyone outside your household should be observed, protective face coverings should be worn, and frequent hand washing should be practiced.
