The Board of Public Works and Safety met in a regular meeting on Wednesday, December 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Council Chamber, 301 East Clinton Street, Frankfort, Indiana. The following action was taken:
Mayor McBarnes called the meeting to order and led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor McBarnes then prayed. Mayor McBarnes, Jim Siegfried, Ken Estes, Judy Sheets and Barb Conner were present. Les Bergum was absent.
MINUTES: None were presented.
Mayor McBarnes said this meeting we would approve the Encumbrances and Claims.
Jim Siegfried said that he had the Attorney agreement for next year. The price is $53,560.00. Ken Estes made the motion to approve the Attorney agreement. Jim Siegfried seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0.
Contract with Norfolk and Southern Railway. Ken Estes made the motion to approve the contract. Jim Siegfried seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0.
Petting zoo Special Purchase. Ken Estes made the motion to ratify the Special purchase of petting zoo animals. Jim Siegfried seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS: Encumbrances – 2018 to 2019
Jim Siegfried made the motion to approve the Encumbrances from 2018 to 2019 and from 2017-2018 to 2019. Ken Estes seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0.
CLAIMS: The R & A Plastics property was put on a tax sale. Mayor McBarnes said the purchaser doesn’t have the funds to clean it up. Mayor McBarnes said we could give him the $16,296.00 to reimburse him. If he doesn’t get it cleaned up by Jan. 18, 2019 then we will follow through with Sam’s letter and give him a fine. Jim Siegfried made the motion to approve the payment to Cherukuri, Inc.. Ken Estes seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Claims were presented. Jim Siegfried made a motion to approve the claims as presented. Ken Estes seconded the motion. Motion passed 3-0. Mayor McBarnes said he would like to take the Third St. and Taco stand demolitions out of Edit – Unsafe Building appropriation.
The lights at the park made the cover of Grace Festival Guide.
Joe Palmer spoke about the new route for Main Street Express taking people through the park to see the lights. He said they had a problem with traffic. Jim Siegfried said we need to think about having an Officer direct traffic next year.
