Operation Spring Clean Up April 30 – May 5

Clean up activities restructured for efficiency

Frankfort, Ind. – This year’s Operation Spring Clean Up will be restructured to maximize residents’ volunteer involvement and achieve effective clean up activities in Frankfort’s parks.

According to Parks Superintendent Travis Sheets, decreased attendance each night in the past few years led him to restructure how clean up activities will be implemented.

“We will be happy to schedule individuals or groups who show interest in working in the evenings that week. Those who would like to do this should call us at the Parks Department at 765-659-3422 to make arrangements. Anyone interested in helping us during regular working hours during the day can show up at the Parks Department office in TPA Park and we will team up an employee with them to work together.

“We have a variety of projects in the works and look forward to partnering with our talented, caring community volunteers interested in sprucing up our parks to get them ready for everyone’s enjoyment this spring and summer,” Sheets said.

According to Street Superintendent Jason Forsythe, the Street Department is offering free drop off at their location at 905 Burlington Avenue during the week of the City’s Operation Spring Clean Up for Frankfort residents only. The service is not available for businesses.

“Residents can drop off up to two pickup truck loads of materials per residence, including large bulk items such as couches, mattresses, box springs, appliances, carpet, chairs, up to two car tires, dressers and TVs from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (April 30 – May 4) and on Saturday, May 5 from 8:00 a.m. – noon.

“Residents will be required to show identification at the gate upon arrival at the Street Department. NO remodeling or building materials will be accepted including lumber, concrete, drywall, countertops, floor tiles or roofing shingles,” Forsythe said.

For those wanting to get a head start on cleaning their own properties, Clinton County residents can take advantage of Republic Services Clinton County Landfill’s Spring Clean Up 2018 with a FREE DAY (one day only) on Saturday, April 28 from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the landfill site at 2700 North State Road 39.

Pick up trucks, family vans and car loads of items for disposal can be dropped off free of charge that day at the landfill with no trailers or dump trucks allowed. NO electronics (TVs, computers, etc.), roofing, appliances, tires, batteries, yard waste or liquids are allowed.

The Farmers Bank will hold their Shred Day from 9:00 a.m. – noon Saturday, May 5 on the Courthouse Square. The event will be held on the Square instead of the bank parking lot next to State Road 28 because the bank will be open that morning and the parking lot is needed for bank customers.
