Frankfort chosen Indiana’s 9th Best City for Families

Frankfort, Ind. – Out of 55 Hoosier cities ranked with populations of more than 10,000, Frankfort placed 9th in HomeSnacks’ list of Best Cities for Families for 2018.

According to Mayor Chris McBarnes, being in the top ten of this list speaks to the community’s many accomplishments and initiatives underway that make Frankfort an appealing location.

“Being named to this list is a great surprise, but recognition we are pleased and proud to accept. We understand the HomeSnacks team analyzed family-friendly amenities in each of the communities they studied, including farmers markets, museums, parks, along with the safety factor of these cities and the quality of schools.

“Just last week, we proudly shared Frankfort moved from the 50th to the 23rd safest city in Indiana in another organization’s annual ranking. We want our community to be known as family-friendly and we are working diligently to ensure our parks and other amenities are top-notch,” McBarnes said.

HomeSnacks relied on U.S. census data to look at every single city in Indiana and gave each one a “family score” based crime, quality of local schools, distance to a major city without necessarily being in it, percentages of households with children (33.7% for Frankfort) and family-friendly amenities nearby such as museums, libraries and colleges.

Zionsville, Crawfordsville, Plymouth, Auburn, Carmel, Westfield, Greenfield, Franklin and Crown Point rounded out the top 10 best cities for families list.
