Mayoral statement: happy New Year wishes and precautions with wind chill warning tonight

First, best wishes to all of you for a safe, productive and blessed new year! May 2018 be filled with much happiness and good health for all of you and those you love.

Second, with a wind chill warning in effect from 10:00 p.m. tonight until 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, please use extra precautions if you must be outside.

Dangerously cold wind chills are expected, able to cause frostbite to exposed skin in as fast as 10 minutes. Clinton County is in the warning area with forecasted wind chills to range between 10 below zero to 30 below zero. The coldest values are expected between 10:00 p.m. tonight and 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

A friendly reminder! In addition to taking good care of yourselves and your families, please be sure to bring pets inside and check on elderly neighbors and those with very young babies to ensure they are OK as well.

We want everyone to remain warm and safe in these extreme temperatures as we move forward into the promise of a new year.

Mayor Chris McBarnes
