Frankfort, Ind. – Frankfort firefighters will continue their initiative to install smoke detectors and replace batteries in existing detectors for all those needing this protection with a Smoke Detector Blitz this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the southeast section of town.
According to Fire Chief John Kirby, 2,600 alarms have been installed to date with community volunteers needed to help make Saturday’s event a success.
“We will meet at Fire Department headquarters at 257 South Clay Street at 8:00 a.m. Saturday to begin our blitz. Everyone can enjoy a delicious lunch at 11:00 a.m. provided by Clinton County American Red Cross chapter members and then from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. we will be back out in the southeast neighborhoods again.
“We encourage and welcome community members to join us and participate in this meaningful event to help keep their friends and neighbors safer with the installation of smoke alarms. It’s truly a life-saving step,” Kirby said.
