Public invited to community meeting with public safety agencies
Frankfort, Ind. – Public safety representatives from the Frankfort Fire and Police Departments and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office will join members of the Indiana Army National Guard to host a Frankfort Community Heroes Day as a community wide event this Saturday at the Frankfort National Guard Armory from noon – 3:00 p.m.
Numerous public safety equipment displays will be available for the community to see, including a fire truck and firefighters in turnout gear, a police cruiser, SWAT truck and police officers in patrol gear, a cruiser from the Sheriff’s Office as well as jail cell entry team members, drug dogs and deputies in patrol gear. The National Guard will have an HMMWV X 2 with .50 cal and MK 19 grenade launcher, TOW missile dismount set up and soldiers in battlefield gear.
The agencies will provide lunch from Jimmy Johns for all event attendees.
According to Fire Chief John Kirby and Police Chief Troy Bacon, this event is a great opportunity for Frankfort residents.
“In addition to each of our displays, we will be there to answer questions and have conversations with attendees. We encourage everyone to check out the equipment from each agency and bring your questions and conversation topics. We want to hear from you and look forward to seeing everyone from the young to the young at heart at the Armory,” Kirby said.
“This community meeting is meant to be a little different than ones in the past, but the goal is the same: for public safety officials and our residents to enjoy conversations and information sharing with each other while building familiarity and trust,” Bacon said.
The National Guard Armory is at 1705 Burlington Avenue.
