Dorner building facade to be removed February 3

Washington Street to close Wednesday until further notice

Frankfort, Ind. – With the Dorner building façade removal scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, Washington Street from Jackson Street to Sycamore Street will be closed until further notice out of an abundance of caution for the public’s safety.

According to Street Superintendent Jason Forsythe, vehicles off Washington Avenue will be able to use Sycamore Street and turn west on Clinton Street to reach Jackson Street.

“Indiana Packers’ trucks and others will use State Road 28 East to Maish Road and go north to Washington Avenue.  INDOT is handling the detour for us,” Forsythe said. “We notified the Clinton County Courthouse staff, so those employees are aware they will need to use Clinton Street to enter and exit their parking area.”

Wampler’s Disposal Service and Recycling and Coomer and Sons Sawmill, Inc. have been advised of the detour as well.

“We will reopen the eastbound lane as soon as it’s safe to do so,” Forsythe said.

Frankfort’s Building Services and Street Departments are partnering on the logistics of this demolition project.
